The Skyline of Hope - Pastor Erton Köhler
08 Aug 2026
Auckland is one of the great cities of the South Pacific, and more than 4.8 billion people live in urban areas like Auckland. Their lives are shaped by new technologies, changing values, and powerful influences. Yet the mission of Jesus remains unchanged.
More than half of humanity lives in cities. Jesus said, "...Open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest!" (John 4:35, NIV). Those fields are found among apartment towers, university campuses, and crowded streets.
There are places where Christianity once shaped public life. Today, many people have little connection with Scripture. According to the Joshua Project, more than 7,000 people groups remain unreached. Entire societies are increasingly secular, shaped by humanism, relativism, materialism, existentialism, and consumerism.
The answer to a post-Christian world is not fear. The gospel has crossed empires, cultures, intellectual movements, and political systems. It remains just as relevant today. Beneath the noise of modern life, many ask questions about purpose, forgiveness, suffering, and hope. The everlasting gospel continues to speak to those needs. Will we share it with them?
