Meet Prof. Graeme Clark - The Visionary Behind the Cochlear Implant

The multiple-channel Cochlear implant is a life-changing technology that was designed to restore hearing to profoundly deaf people. It was invented by an amazing Australian, Dr Graeme Clark, who regularly took time to pray and allow God to guide him.
Dr Graeme Clark was born in Camden, NSW, in August 1935. His father was the local pharmacist and was severely deaf. As a young boy, Graeme assisted his father to dispense medicines and served at the pharmacy front counter. His early experience supporting his father was the catalyst for his passion to work with people living with deafness. His first primary school teacher remembers Graeme telling her that when he grew up he wanted “to fix ears.” But Dr Clark’s motivations were deeper than just addressing deafness. His family raised him in a Christian environment and fostered his inquisitive nature for learning and research.
